Vessel “Maersk Sarnia” leaving GWD
The vessel “Maersk Sarnia” had completed the repairing activities and left GWD on 1300hrs of April 13th. As a member of Maersk Line’s fleet, Maersk Sarnia entered GWD with tight schedule for conversion for 33 mooring equipment and other repairing activities.
During the repairing, the project team had tackled problems of drawings and limited lifting capability at starboard side when double berthing; QC team worked till midnight to catch up with the inspection schedule for the reinforcement structures; with good coordination of manpower, coating department managed to complete the coating work on time. All these efforts contributed to the successful and on-time delivery of the vessel.
On April 10th, 4 additional bollards and fairleads were requested to be installed on portside and starboard side of 10# tank. The parts arrived yard on the next day. In the morning of April 12th, GWD Steel Workshop had completed the inspection for the reinforcement structure. With reasonable work sequence and good coordination, the activities were completed as scheduled and won the clients’ satisfactory.
The vessel “Maersk Sarnia” set up a good example for the application of mooring equipment conversion procedures. In this project, GWD had i optimized the procedure and will do better in “Maersk Sydney”,the next project of mooring conversion series.
