“Maersk Sydney” leaving GWD
On 12:00 of April 20th, the vessel “Maersk Sydney”, the second vessel of mooring conversion series projects for Maersk Line, left GWD yard. Same as “Maersk Sarnia”, the first vessel of the series carrying out mooring conversion in GWD, main activity for this vessel was the conversion for 33 mooring equipment.
Structure Department arranged same project team members and work teams as “Maersk Sarnia”, who were more experienced. This project strictly followed the schedule model for mooring conversion series. Based on the schedule, there was only 4.5 days for structure work considering the period for scaffolding erection and removal, power tooling and coating repair. Facing with the lifting capability of triple berthing and late arrival of floating crane, project team came out with an innovative idea of lifting the 4 bollards and fairleads by the galley crane.
With this second success of the mooring conversion model, we are more confident to achieve the “6-day goal” for mooring equipment conversion of container carriers and more recognized by the client.
